Spoiler:
He apparently does take it - and in the end he'll go and disappear to a different world.

((Personally I'm rooting for him being Cavendish lol))

Part of their flesh rots, but more slowly than it would if it were a regular person. (Because the nano complex in their system partially out competes the natural bacteria that would cause true rotting.)

The bigger question is why can they still move in the deep freeze of winter, when their flesh is clearly hardened?

That has to do with how they actually move, which isn't due to muscular contractions...

:) But the answer is science magic. Naturally.

Oh, I forgot: Why do they only go after regular living people? Well, clearly they can become confused, but if the nanos interact with another infected person they back off. This can be through air born or regular means. When there are humans around it becomes more confusing for them, so they may attack (say a downed zombie?) which they wouldn't do if there were no tasty people around to add scents to the air.

I'll try to look into the whole thing and see what's up with that.

Thanks everyone!

It's only about fifty thousand words (plus a little) and in short story form. (That's about half a regular sized novel, more or less. Technically it's a short book length amount of material.)

Yes, there is some stuff from Colleen/Vickie/Cam/Nate/Tipper/Burt perspective. Plus... A new Mickie story. :) I don't want to give spoilers. Also Alan. Yep. Alan.

So, you all probably know the drill. If you'd like to play, please let me know by sending an email to: power_dale@yahoo.com

Putting something like: Stories from the End of the World in the title bar is good. Just something that will identify you as not sending me an offer for Viagra, or a Russian mail order bride

Thanks! I'll re-post this in it's own thread so that more people will see it.

Since this is just about my favorite series, I am pretty jazzed to see an update. For me, the ending still seemed somewhat of a downer, since we only get to find out that Jake/Mickey lived happily (?) ever after and that is about it. He goes through four books getting tortured mentally and physically and all we get is a few lines to sum up everything.

Also a few background people, to show the difference in perspectives.

That hard part is the timing. I'd love to use the same time frame for a few events, to show different perspectives, but I don't want to inter-space them in particular.
