There have been some spam posts recently by registered users that have gotten past our filters.

I've increased their precision some and will be keeping an eye on new registrants to watch for new issues.

The new spam posts are really getting annoying... is it possible to configure the board so that the first post of a new account needs to be moderated?

At least they are posing in off topic. Strange that.

I'm with you though, it's kind of annoying. I've been reading the new real posts and then using the mark as read feature, so... One or six it's the same effort.

I would assume that the spamming is probably fully automated, in which case just moderating the first post, and permabanning the account if it's spam should do the trick. It's highly unlikely that any spammer would invest the necessary time toproduce a meaningful on-topic post that passes moderation before starting to spam.

I believe I have it set so the first 3 posts by a user are now moderated. It isn't a specific setting, unfortunately, so it may take some tweaking to get it right.
