You don't really have to wait for the field to completely decay. With enough focus the top builders should be able to recognize even minimal changes on a week by week basis.

Also, with Dareg having gone through Alternate-style line-walker training, there is a totally new dimension here.

By taking amulets into the void and then studying their patterns there, he should be able to achieve completely new levels of understanding about how the fields work, and the relationship between the fields and the matter that they have been impressed on.

In fact, given enough time in the void, Dareg should be able to learn how to create the necessary void patterns for new field devices from scratch, so that when he leaves the void, taking these newly created patterns along, they materialize into physical field devices (aka amulets).

A few people are know to originate in realities other than the main realities of the different book series. In that case I've marked them with a star (and optionally a number), same number means the same unnamed reality.

The reality that the Infected reality interacts with, from which Hobbs, Mary, Braid, and so on originate, was often referred to as "Hobbs' World" in the Infected books, so I'll use that label instead of a numbered star.
